All About Me

Susan Brady Burd is a librarian who always dreamed of finding her own book amongst the shelves. Her first book The Doctoress was inspired by her journey recovering the health of her children using alternative medicine, and specifically homeopathy. She lives near Buffalo, NY with her husband and two sons where she spends the long winters reading by the fireplace and the summers biking along the shores of Lake Erie. Currently she is hard at work on a completely different historical fiction novel set in the Sixties, inspired by the work of Joan Didion.

Coming soon: "The Doctoress"

Dr. Clemence Lozier, one of the very first women to earn a medical degree, and her daughter-in-law Charlotte, a doctor too, are amongst the first generation of women trying to ‘have it all.’

But post-Civil War New York is no Gilded Age for working women, and having such big dreams, at a time when women didn’t even have the right to vote, will prove to be a more dangerous choice than either of these two women could have imagined.
