About Historium Press

- Our Mission -
Historium Press is a hybrid book publisher specializing in historical fiction, dedicated to helping authors transform compelling stories into professionally published, marketable books.
We offer carefully designed hybrid publishing packages for historical fiction authors who want the quality and professional guidance of an experienced publishing team combined with strategic book marketing, author branding, publicity, and public relations.
Our approach goes beyond simply publishing a book. We work with authors to develop a distinctive author brand, create professional book and cover designs, build effective marketing strategies, and increase visibility across the growing historical fiction market. From publication and editorial support to book promotion, digital marketing, media outreach, and audience development, our goal is to help each author reach more readers and build a lasting career.
Whether you are a first-time historical fiction author or an established writer looking to expand your readership, Historium Press provides the publishing expertise, creative support, and marketing resources needed to move your book from manuscript to marketplace.
Quality publishing. Strategic book marketing. Author branding. Publicity. A community built around historical fiction.
At Historium Press, we don't just publish books—we help historical fiction authors build their brands, grow their audiences, and bring their stories to the readers who are waiting to discover them.

The Team
Dee Marley
Editor-in-Chief & Owner
There is something magical about wandering through a bookshop with nowhere else to be—scanning the covers, reading the blurbs and first lines, pulling one book from the shelf and then another, opening a brand-new book and taking that first wonderful sniff (yes, you know you have all done it!), and inevitably leaving with two or three—or ten—more books to add to an already enormous TBR pile. Add a good cup of coffee or tea, and for me, there are few better ways to spend an afternoon.
And there is one genre I return to again and again: historical fiction.
It is what I love to read, and it is what I love to write. I have always been fascinated by the ability of historical fiction to transport us into another time—to walk the streets of another century, experience the lives of people who came before us, and discover the human stories hidden within the pages of history.
The Historical Fiction Company and Historium Press is about more than my own love of reading and writing. It is my hope to create a place of support and creativity for writers at every stage of their journey—from authors just beginning to find their voice to established professionals with years of experience behind them.
I believe that publishing should feel personal. Authors should not feel like a manuscript number moving through an impersonal production line. They should feel that there are real people behind the books who care about their stories, their careers, and their success.
That same philosophy carries into my work with Historium Press, where I serve as founder, partner, and Editor-in-Chief. My goal is to build more than a list of published titles. I want to help create a community of historical fiction authors who can encourage one another, share ideas and experiences, celebrate each other's successes, and form genuine, lasting friendships. Historical fiction is a genre built on connection—to the past, to one another, and to the stories that remind us how remarkably human history can be.
My professional background has given me the tools to help make that vision possible. As Head Graphic Designer at White Rabbit Arts, I bring more than 40 years of experience in graphic design, specializing in logo design, book and magazine layouts, cover design, and branding. Over the years, I have learned that a book begins telling its story long before the reader reaches the first page. Its cover, typography, layout, imagery, and overall presentation all contribute to the promise made to the reader.
As an author myself, I also understand the experience from the other side. I know what it means to pour time, imagination, research, and heart into a story and then place that story into someone else's hands. That experience shapes the way I approach editing, design, publishing, and author relationships.
Today, my work brings together the things I have loved for decades: books, writing, history, design, publishing, and people.
Each of these ventures grew from the same underlying belief—that books matter, authors matter, and there is still room in the publishing world for businesses built around personal relationships, creativity, and a genuine love of what we do.
Ultimately, I want The Historical Fiction Company to feel like the kind of place I have always loved walking into: welcoming, full of possibilities, surrounded by wonderful stories, and filled with people who are just as excited about books as I am.
So whether you are an author looking for a place to begin, an established writer looking for a supportive publishing community, or simply a reader who loves getting lost in another time and another story, I hope you enjoy both sites—and perhaps find a new favorite book along the way.
Marcas P. O'Dea
Co-Editor & Collaborating Partner
I have spent more than 40 years working as an author, publisher, producer, and creative entrepreneur, building a career that has taken me across writing, publishing, media, performance, design, information, government, and business. Although those fields may seem unrelated at first glance, they have always been connected by the same underlying practice: learning, making, connecting, and building.
I am a lifelong “creativist.” To me, being a creativist means that creativity is not limited to a single discipline or medium. It is the ability to apply creative intelligence wherever it is needed—to see possibilities where others see the ordinary, envision what does not yet exist, connect seemingly unrelated ideas, solve problems when the obvious door is closed, recognize which ideas deserve to be developed, and ultimately turn imagination into something real.
My career has been unconventional by design.
I began in the world of clubs, underground radio, and performance, while also working as a professional fitness expert with up-and-coming Olympic athletes. I worked with Warner Bros. Films on three movie properties and co-owned clubs in Boulder and Denver. Later, I earned a Master of Library Science and worked as a reference librarian, developing a deeper understanding of information, research, and the systems through which knowledge is organized and shared.
That experience eventually led me into government work. With the Colorado Department of Natural Resources, I built its in-house library and served as a paralegal for the Water Conservation Board. Each chapter of my career added another layer to the way I approach creative work today.
In 2010, I began learning the professional publishing industry as an author determined to understand what actually happened to the books I had written once they left my hands. That experience became a turning point. Rather than simply learning how to publish my own work, I began developing a broader understanding of the business, creative, marketing, and operational systems required to bring books successfully to an audience.
Since 2018, I have completed five novels and several nonfiction works, while also building a growing publishing ecosystem that includes Reenchantment House Publishing, Sepulchre Press, Rooster & Moon Publishing, and my partnership with Historium Press.
Today, I think of my work as building creative infrastructure—bringing together writing, publishing, editing, design, marketing, media, partnerships, and the systems that allow creative work to reach an audience.
For me, publishing is not simply about putting a book into print. It is about creating the conditions in which an idea, an author, or a creative project can actually thrive. It requires vision, synthesis, problem-solving, discernment, and execution—and, above all, the willingness to keep looking for another door when the obvious one is locked.
I believe that a lifelong creativist develops a transferable creative operating system: one that can move from writing to design, publishing to business, strategy to media, and from an initial idea to a functioning creative property, system, or enterprise.
That is the perspective I bring to every project I undertake.
Trust is my algorithm. Truth is my frequency. Love is my foundation.
